Religious leaders have put the IEBC and other electoral stakeholders on notice to ensure Kenya’s 2027 General Election is credible, transparent and peaceful, urging institutions to embrace accountability and dialogue as preparations for the polls intensify.
Africa has made significant gains in agricultural production over the past two decades, but the progress has yet to translate into sufficient prosperity for farmers, the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) says. In its 20-year Impact, Learning and Foresight Report launched in Nairobi on Monday, AGRA says farmer incomes have doubled, cereal yields have risen by about 40 per cent and farm output has roughly doubled in real terms since 2005. However, the organisation warns that the gains remain insufficient to deliver the transformation needed to meet Africa’s 2035 agricultural targets.

She warned that education systems must adapt to the changing economy, particularly as artificial intelligence transforms the workplace, and called for successful education innovations to be scaled up across the region. The conference, running from August 25 to 28, brings together education stakeholders under the theme “Transforming Education in East Africa: From Commitments to Impact, Fostering Resilience and Future-Ready Systems for Sustainable Development.”
